What is Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty or Liquid Rhinoplasty?
While only a surgical rhinoplasty can reduce the size of your nose, a non-surgical rhinoplasty can add volume to your nose for a more refined appearance, possibly more narrowed appearance, and help smoothen contour irregularities. This is achieved with dermal fillers including Juvéderm Voluma or Restylane Lyft, which are both hyaluronic acid fillers. The main benefit of a non-surgical rhinoplasty is the enhanced shape of your nose without the need for surgery and its associated risks and downtime.
A non-surgical rhinoplasty can achieve the following:
- Smooth small irregularities in the bridge of the nose.
- Build up the bridge for a more narrowed and refined appearance.
- Add volume to the nose.
- Create a more refined nasal tip.
- Lift the tip of the nose.
Who is a Good Candidate for Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?
Individuals who wish to alter the shape or appearance of their nose without surgery can often benefit from a non-surgical rhinoplasty. The best candidates are physically healthy with realistic expectations for the outcome of their procedure.
How is the Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Procedure Done?
Because each client has their own specific aesthetic goals, the amount of filler used may differ from person to person. Dr. Walker will help you determine which filler is best for you, as well as how much filler is needed to achieve your desired result.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty is performed in Dr. Walker’s office with a topical anesthetic. Dr. Walker will precisely inject the perfect amount of filler into specific locations of your nose using a very small needle. The filler will add volume under the skin leading to a refined and reshaped nose appearance. After approximately six weeks, you will return for possible enhancement. Results tend to last 12-18 months depending on which filler was used. The fillers that Dr. Walker uses for liquid rhinoplasty are reversible and can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which is an important safety consideration. Should you be uncertain about wanting to undergo a non-surgical rhinoplasty, the reversibility of the filler may be an aspect to be taken into consideration.
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Recovery
Because this procedure is non-surgical, there is no downtime! In fact, you will be able to see an immediate change in the look of your nose. Mild redness, minimal bruising, and swelling are possible but should resolve within a few days, sometimes up to a week, rarely more. Ice packs can help the swelling to dissipate. Makeup can be applied immediately after your procedure to camouflage any possible bruising. Be sure to avoid rubbing or massaging the nose during healing, as this could move the fillers into an unsatisfactory position. Results from a non-surgical rhinoplasty typically last 12-18 months. If you wish to maintain your results, touch up appointments are necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will my nose look too big after a non-surgical rhinoplasty?
No, this procedure will fill in the unwanted depressions in your nose, making it appear straighter and more symmetrical. A symmetrical nose balances better in the face, and will not stand out due to irregularities. Individuals with low bridges such as clients of Southeast Asian descent tend to have low bridges with a widened appearance. Adding volume not only creates a more harmonious profile but it also creates favorable sidewall shadowing creating the illusion of a narrowed appearance. The more projected the nasal bridge, the narrower it looks.
What can a non-surgical rhinoplasty not achieve?
Non-surgical rhinoplasty cannot make a nose smaller or straighter. It also cannot improve your nasal breathing. Rather, it can only add volume to the nose to camouflage irregularities or build up a bridge or tip. It is not adding cartilaginous support to the nose for those with nasal breathing problems. Clients should understand that while a non-surgical rhinoplasty can certainly improve the look of the nose, results will not be as drastic as those of a surgical rhinoplasty procedure. But not every client needs or wants a surgical rhinoplasty and a liquid rhinoplasty may be all thats needed for that confidence boost.
Are the results from a non-surgical rhinoplasty permanent?
Dr. Walker only uses reversible and temporary dermal fillers in the nose for safety reasons such as Juvéderm Voluma® and Restylane Lyft®. Hence results are not permanent. Dermal fillers are biodegradable, which means they are safe to use in the body, but will eventually fade away. For individuals who are looking for permanent results, a surgical rhinoplasty may be a better option. Please note that none of the fillers available today are FDA-approved for non-surgical rhinoplasty, which is a very advanced injection procedure that should only be performed by highly-trained and experienced injectors.
