Midface Lift
As we age, we tend to lose youthful fat in our face. Our fat pads in our cheeks begin to deteriorate, which can lead to a sunken appearance or deep folds in the facial skin. A midface lift is a popular facial procedure that can create a refreshed facial appearance, restoring this youthful fullness for a refreshed look. Our office is 19 minutes from Downtown Atlanta and 12 minutes from Brookhaven.
What is a Midface Lift?
With a similar approach to the mini lift, the surgery known as a midface lift focuses on the hollow and lax areas close to the cheekbones and the upper jaw. This lift works well for those who hope to achieve improvement in the lower two-thirds of the face, which also improves the look of the jowls. This facelift technique enhances the look of the eyes, widens a thin face, and provides a more youthful appearance.
Who is a Good Candidate for a Midface Lift?
Individuals who are looking to improve the appearance of sagging cheeks, a loss of cheek projection, loose skin in the midface, loss of volume under the eyes, or prominent nasolabial folds can often benefit from a midface lift. Ideal candidates are overall healthy and have realistic expectations for the outcome of their procedure. The best way to determine candidacy is through a consultation appointment with Dr. Walker.
How is the Midface Lift Procedure Done?
A midface lift is performed in the operating room under anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. The incisions made for the midface lift are the similar to those made for the traditional facelift, but Dr. Walker will create incisions in deeper tissue. This allows him to pull the muscles near the nose and the cheeks up. This moves and secures these muscles higher in the face, ultimately leading to a more youthful appearance.
Midface Lift Recovery
Following your midface lift procedure, you will be monitored by our team before you are released to go home. Drains may be placed to help collect any excess fluid during recovery, and bandages may be left in place for up to three days. Swelling and bruising is expected and completely normal, which can be lessened with cool compresses and head elevation. Bruising usually dissipates after about two weeks, while swelling may last for several months. All sutures will be removed after 1-2 weeks.
As your swelling subsides, you will be able to see your results and enjoy your more refreshed appearance. Clients may return to work as soon as they feel they are able to. For some individuals, this may be sooner than others, depending on the type of work they do. You will be scheduled for follow-up visits during your recovery to ensure that you are healing properly.
