Artefill/Bellafill

When you look in the mirror, are you noticing unwanted lines and wrinkles? Bellafill is a dermal filler created to soften these signs of aging while boasting long-term results. If you are looking for a long-lasting filler for a more youthful, refreshed look, Bellafill is for you! With years of experience performing facial plastic surgery procedures, double board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Walker has the skills to ensure your cosmetic goals become a reality.

What is ArteFill/Bellafill?

ArteFill changed its name to Bellafill in 2014. They are the same dermal filler, just under different names. Bellafill is formulated with small, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres that are suspended within a base of collagen. When injected, Bellafill will immediately reduce the look of smile lines, wrinkles, and acne scars. It can also be used off-label to plump the lips, correct undereye bags, and contour the cheeks and chin. Over time, this dermal filler also stimulates collagen growth long term, helping to maintain your youthful look for up to five years.

Who is a Good Candidate for ArteFill/Bellafill?

Both men and women with a variety of skin types can benefit from Bellafill injections. Individuals must be 21 years of age or older and wish to correct the appearance of wrinkles, smile lines, or acne scars. The best candidates will be overall healthy with realistic expectations for the outcome of their treatment.

If you have a known allergy to bovine collagen, have a bleeding disorder, are allergic to lidocaine, or have a history of severe allergies, let Dr. Walker know during your consultation, as another treatment may be a better option for you.

How is the ArteFill/Bellafill Procedure Done?

Prior to your treatment, a skin test will be performed to ensure that you do not have an allergy to bovine collagen. A small amount of purified collagen gel will be injected into your forearm to ensure that a reaction does not occur.

When you are ready for treatment, Dr. Walker will mark the area(s) being treated. Bellafill will then carefully be injected into the targeted area with a small syringe. Each syringe contains a small amount of lidocaine as well, which helps to numb the treatment area for your comfort. Results will be immediately noticeable. Multiple areas can be treated during one appointment, and procedure time will vary depending on the number of areas you are having treated.

ArteFill/Bellafill Recovery

There is little to no downtime required following Bellafill injections, so you can return to your normal activities right away. Mild swelling, redness, bruising, or discomfort may occur at the treatment site, which is temporary. An ice pack can help with any swelling that occurs. Dr. Walker may schedule you for a follow-up appointment to ensure that you are happy with your results.
